Obituary of Joseph B. Churinskas

Joseph B. Churinskas, 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at his residence in Monroe Twp.  Joseph was born and raised in Bayonne and lived there until entering the US Army where he served from 1950 - 1952.  After his discharge, Joe attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.  Upon his graduation, he accepted a position with American Cyanamid where he worked for 37 years and where he met the love of his life, Theresa Rossi, who would become his wife of 60 years. His 37-year career as a manufacturing manager took the two of them from Elizabeth, NJ, to Chattanooga, TN, Mobile AL, Howell, NJ, Hannibal, MO and a return to Howell before he finally retired and settled at The Ponds, Monroe Twp., in 1996.  Joseph was an ardent lover of traveling and over the course of his life he visited 48 states and 37 countries across all 7 continents.  

 

Joseph was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Theresa (Rossi) Churinskas of Monroe Twp., his daughter, Lisa A. Churinskas-Hulit and husband Robert Hulit of Plainsboro, his son, David J. Churinskas and his wife Linda of Princeton Junction, three grandchildren: David Jr., Leah and Jack Churinskas and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be 4-6pm on Sunday September 15, 2019 and 9:30-10:30am on Monday September 16, 2019 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ.  Funeral services will begin at 10am on Monday September 16th, with the procession departing at 10:45am from the funeral home.  The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:30am at Queenship of Mary RC Church - 16 Dey Rd., Plainsboro Twp., NJ  08536 followed by committal services at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery - Wrightstown.
