Reflecting on someone's life has a peculiar tendency to focus on small, sometimes distant, but telling memories. Late summer of 1991 I had just moved back to Canarsie having spent the previous eight years going to college and then working in the Boston area. Having been away for so many years and feeling like a stranger in a strange land, who do I get a call from within days? My younger cousin Patsy, welcoming me back and saying he'll be by Friday evening to take me out. We went into the city and had a great
time, Patsy insisting on paying for everything and stopping at Ferrara's, where he worked at the time, to "make a box" of pastries to bring home to my mother. That was Patsy, as bighearted, thoughtful and affectionate a person as you could ever know. I'm shocked and saddened that he's gone, and so young, and by the void that it leaves in so many lives. But a life
shouldn't be measured by its length, which we can't control, but by its impact on others, which we can. In this respect, his life was unimaginably rich, we should all be so fortunate. I'm grateful to have known him and proud to call him my cousin.
With love,
John, Alanna, Raquel and Gina Gilson

To our dearest cousin Pasquale,
It felt unreal when we got the call and to this day we still can't believe it. You were always there for a laugh and that contagious smile that you have would light up any dark room. We always had great times when you were around the family. We knew why god would have wanted you close to him, it's because you were truely an angel on earth. Rest in paradise, and watch over all your friends and family. We will always love you and give support and comfort to you family forever.

Dear Patsy, I wrote this poem in memory of you, Rest in Peace.
What happens when we leave?
Do we settle for less then what we want to be?
Our lives become a chilling wind, just passing through people's shakey limbs.
Are we present but not really?
Do we stop thinking or loose feeling?
We are definitely missed, and thought about every time someone feels an empty kiss.
Does life carry on?
Like a singer forgetting the words to a song?
Only special people know we are here,
Right over them,oh so near,
We can be lightyears away
Or sighing the presence of today,
People should always remember the good times we shared and love us as if we were right there.
Live life to the fullest and feel what the eyes can't see, Time is precious just remind people that they are loved when you leave.

Patsie we miss you already. Ever since we got the call, we are in total shock. You were the youngest of our cousins and you were taken too soon. When I woke up today, I was hoping that it was a bad nightmare.I know that God needed another angel and you will be with your Dad, my Dad and your loved ones watching over all of us. We will be there to comfort Anna, your mom, Sophia and all the family. Rest in Peace
