Obituary of Henry J. A. Mersch

Henry J. A. Mersch died on Monday July 4, 2011 at his home in Monroe Village, Monroe Twp. He was 92 years old. Mr. Mersch was born in Holland. He moved to Brazil as a teenager where he studied with the Carmelites and served in the Brazilian Army. He came to the US and settled in Brooklyn. He was a Vice President for National Westminster Bank in the International Department. Upon retiring he moved to Concordia, Monroe Twp. in 1978. He has resided in Monroe Village since 2007. He was a parishioner of St. James the Less RC Church, Jamesburg and was a 4th degree member and past financial secretary of the St. James Knights of Columbus council 6336. He enjoyed travelling all over the world.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emily (Fuccillo) of Monroe Village, Monroe Twp., his sister, Willie Klaasen of Holland, one niece, Carol Sorrenti of Russia, three cousins, Solange Stouthandel Lemos of Florida, Luiz Alberto Fortuna Stouthandel of Brazil, and Maria do Carmos Fortuna Stouthandel of Brazil, and Frank Mersch and Peter Mersch of Australia in addition to several other extended family members.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00am on Thursday July 7, 2011 from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be 11:30am at St. James the Less RC Church, Jamesburg followed by Entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, So. Brunswick. Visitation is Thursday morning from 9:30am until the time of services.
