Messick died Tuesday June 21st at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old. Born in Woodbridge, he lived in Middlesex County for all of his life, including 22 years in Old Bridge before moving to Rossmoor in Monroe Township in 1995. Mr. Messick attended Monmouth College, Quinnipiac College and Seton Hall University. He worked as the purchasing manager for CPS Chemical of Old Bridge for 25 years, retiring in 1995. Mr. Messick was a member and past president of the Rossmoor Golf Club, the Knights of Columbus Council 857 in Woodbridge and a volunteer with the Kiwanis of Rossmoor Food Pantry. He served in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Dolinich, two daughters, Jean Palazzolo and her husband, Michael of South River, and Ellen Murphy and her husband, Daniel of Millstone, a sister, Vera Ucci of Edgewater and a brother, Charles of Edison. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Nicholas Palazzolo, and Danielle, Heather, Michael, and Garrett Murphy. Funeral services will be 9:45am Saturday from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. James RCC, Jamesburg. Committal services and cremation will follow at the Holy Cross Crematory Chapel, South Brunswick. Visitation will be Friday from 4pm to 8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Research Foundation at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, 710 W. 168th St., 9th Floor, NY, NY 10032.
