Obituary of Walter Habiak

Walter "Lefty" Habiak of South Brunswick died Thursday June 16 in Allentown, PA. He was 88 years old. Born in Sayreville on June 20, 1922, Mr. Habiak was raised in Sayreville and lived there until 1961, when he moved to South Brunswick. Walter served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He served with the 13th Engineers attached to the Army Combat Engineers as a Technician Fifth Grade.
He worked as a lab tech for Hercules, Inc. of Parlin,
where he was a dedicated employee for 44 years, retiring in 1985. Walter was an avid gardener, pinochle player, and baseball fan. He also bowled with the Rutgers Agricultural League of Cook College. He was a very active member of St. James RC Church, Jamesburg, serving in many areas including the choir, bingo, and counting money.
Mr. Habiak was the devoted husband of the late Marie (June, 2005), and loving father of the late Mark (May, 2005). He was also predeceased by a daughter, Marie (1954).
He is survived by and was lovingly cared for by his sons John and his wife June of Laurys Station, PA, and Alan and his wife Jan of Kendall Park, his daughters Karen and her husband William Limpert of Howell, and Geralyn and her husband Jeremy Karpiscak of Millstone Twp. He was the fun-loving grandfather of grandsons William and Matthew Limpert, Christopher and Gregory Habiak, Reed Habiak, and granddaughter Keeley Habiak. He also leaves behind extended family and friends. He will be missed by all.
Funeral service will be 10.30 am Monday June 20, 2011 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. James RC Church, Jamesburg. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Visitation will be Sunday, June 19 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
