It is not often any of us are fortunate enough to befriend a special individual such as Jim Avery. His thoughts and wisdom were always inspiring and welcomed by my father and me. He did all the right things for all the right reasons (something many attempt, but few attain). I’m sure I join numerous others who will celebrate the positive and fond memories we have of Jim Avery.

Brother James S. Avery has done what GOD wanted him to do and he has been where GOD wanted him to go. He was a true leader who unselfishly served others. By being the man he was, he motivated thousands to get from where they were to where they had not yet been. Brother Avery understood few things in life are more powerful than a positive push. He constantly offered words of optimism and hope.
In my humble opinion, Brother Avery was the ultimate professional and the definition of a success. I am certain he will be missed by many.
I send my condolences to his family.

My Dad was a fine man. He had many accomplishments and honors and he touched many peoples' lives. He was a strong man who held the bar high for those he taught, led and loved. He was known by many as teacher, coach, Brother and friend but to me he was Daddy. He provided a very good life for my brother and myself. He gave us opportunities that regretfully we didn't always see through but we were always loved and encouraged not to give up. I am very grateful for the time we had. The laughter, the father daughter talks and that bourbon sour. I do not have to mourn him or miss him because I will carry him with me for the rest of my life. I'll always love you.
