Obituary of Alfred Edward Van Ness, Jr.

Alfred Edward Van Ness, Jr. - Monroe Township, NJ A. Edward Van Ness, Jr., 96, died on Friday December 14, 2018 at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. Edward was born and raised in New Brunswick, NJ; he resided on Liberty Street until he was drafted into the Army Air Corp during World War II, after proudly serving his country, Edward’s military career began in the Unites States Air Force, retiring in 1969 after twenty two years of service. Edward was then employed by the United States Postal Service for twenty years, retiring in 1993. Edward enjoyed gardening and bird watching; he was an avid New York Yankees fan, a member of VFW in Milltown, NJ and a parishioner of St. James the Less RC Church. Edward is preceded in death by his wife Mary Theresa (Grealis) Van Ness (1995), his brother and his three sisters. Edward is survived by his son Edward Van Ness, III and his three grandsons; Alfred E. Van Ness, IV, Greg Van Ness and Patrick Van Ness. Visitation will be from 5-9pm on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:15am on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 10:00am on Tuesday at St. James the Less RC Church, Jamesburg, NJ. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
