Stanley P. Mandela, 81, died on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at his residence in Monroe Twp. Stanley was born and raised in Elizabeth and lived in Avenel for over 35 years before moving to Monroe Twp. 2 years ago. Stanley proudly served his country in the US Army. Stanley was employed as the General Manager/Trades, Northern Division for the NJ Turnpike for 33 years, retiring in 2003. He was extremely handy and enjoyed putting his extensive tool collection to good use, helping anyone in need. Stanley was an active member of the First and Second Presbyterian Church and very involved in Food for Friends in Rahway. Most of all he was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Stanley was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Mandela and two sisters: Janet Dryka and Maryann Sawicki.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Dawn (Coates) Mandela of Monroe Twp., three daughters: Sherry Bergen of Rocky Mount, NC, Holly Minguet of Rocky Point, NC and Christina Weaver and her husband Wally of Howell and six grandchildren: Robert Bergen, Crystal Morin and her husband Ryan, Kyle and Connor Minguet and Jack and Nicholas Weaver.
Visitation will be 2-4pm & 7-9pm on Wednesday November 28, 2018 and 10-11am on Thursday November 29, 2018 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555. A funeral service will be 11am on Thursday November 29, 2018 at the funeral home. Cremation is private.
