John M. Porcello passed away on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at Parker at Monroe. He was 88 years old. Mr. Porcello was born and raised in Brooklyn. He lived in the Matawan section of Old Bridge Twp. for over 26 years before moving to Concordia, Monroe Twp. in 2016. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He began his working career as a foreman for Atlantic Yeast in Brooklyn. He then started his own business, Barrons Convenience Store in Brooklyn that he operated for many years. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the St. Bartholomew Knights of Columbus Council in East Brunswick and was also a member of the Bays End Kawanians in Brooklyn. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Redeemer RC Church in Matawan. John was an avid fan of baseball, and he also enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing cards, and spending time in the kitchen. He was predeceased by his son, John P. Porcello in 1977, and three siblings, Joseph Porcello, Michael Porcello, and Josephine Barron. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie A. (Lanzisera) Porcello of Concordia, Monroe Twp., one son, Christopher Porcello and his wife Carmela of Millstone Twp., two siblings, Carmela Steele and her husband Richard of Spartenburg, SC, and Stanley Porcello of Atlantic City, two grandchildren, Jonathan Porcello and his wife Meredith, and Dominique Porcello and her finacee Robert Richards, and many other extended family members. Visitation will be from 2-5pm on Sunday October 21, 2018 and from 8:30am to 9:00am on Monday October 22, 2018 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - www.demarcofuneralhome.com - 732-521-0555. A Catholic Blessing will be 9:00am on Monday at the funeral home followed by Interment in St. Charles Cemetery, LI, NY.
