Walter L. Avansino, 95, of Monroe Twp. died on Thursday April 19, 2018 at CareOne at East Brunswick. Walter was born and raised in Brooklyn. He lived in Queens and moved to The Ponds in Monroe Twp. in 1996. Walter proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was employed as a banker for 32 years at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. in New York City until his retirement in 1985. Walter was active in the choir at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church where he was a parishioner. He was a member of the Italian American Club at The Ponds, was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved to dance. Walter was able to celebrate milestones with a special group of 90 year olds in Middlesex County.
Walter was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Avansino.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Rose Avansino, his son Thomas Avansino and his wife Frances, all of Monroe Twp., two daughters: Nina Mongan and her husband Patrick of Brooklyn and Mary Anne Bulick and her husband Bill of Scotch Plains, two grandchildren: Vanessa Marden and her husband Trevor and Thomas Avansino and his grand-dog, Quincy.
Visitation will be 2-4pm & 7-9pm on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831. Funeral services will begin at 9:45am on Thursday April 26, 2018 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 10:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by a private entombment.
