Obituary of Sara E. LaRosa

Sara E. La Rosa, 73, of Monroe Twp. passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick after fighting cancer for four years. Sara was born and raised in Costa Rica. She came to the United States in 1964 and settled in East Brunswick, N.J. She attended New Brunswick High School evening classes to learn English as a second language and obtained her United States Citizenship in 1969. She lived in Edison for four years before moving to Monroe Twp. in 1970. Sara enjoyed staying home raising her children. When they were older, she did clerical work for The Girl Scouts in East Brunswick and the Greater New York Insurance Company.
Her favorite thing was spending time with her husband and their grandchildren. She adored her family and they meant the world to her. Sara enjoyed gardening and landscaping with her husband. She loved to cook with her grandchildren and watch them perform at every event.
Sara was preceded in death by her father, Juan Jose Flores Cruz.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Joseph D. La Rosa of Monroe Twp., her son, Joey La Rosa of East Windsor, her daughter, Rochelle La Rosa Fennell and her husband Myles of Monroe Twp., her mother, Austelina Viquez Chaves, her brother, Juan Jose Flores Viquez and his wife Lidiette, all of Costa Rica, three sisters: Yolanda Slavick and her husband Ronald of Toms River, and Vilma Flores Viquez and Sonia Flores Viquez, both of Costa Rica and four grandchildren: Liam and Lindsay Sara Fennell and Joey and Amanda LaRosa.
Services are private and are being held under the direction of the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc.
