Obituary of Tina A. DeFranco

Tina A. (Principato) DeFranco, 90, died on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at her residence at Arden Courts of Palm Harbor in Palm Harbor, FL. Tina was born and raised in New Brunswick. Upon her marriage to Dr. Joseph Giacona, MD, she settled in Union and was a homemaker. While raising her family, they enjoyed spending the summers at Lake Hopatcong with relatives. Dr. Giacona passed away in 1969 and she later married Jack DeFranco and moved to Point Pleasant where she lived for over 30 years before finally moving to Greenbriar in Brick. She enjoyed wintering in Naples, FL where they had a residence. Two years ago, she moved to Palm Harbor, FL to be near her youngest daughter Tina and her husband Pat, who lovingly cared for her. One of her greatest joys was preparing and serving delicious Italian meals for her entire family. She also loved taking trips to Atlantic City and playing cards with her family and friends.
Tina was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Joseph Giacona, MD (1969), her second husband, Jack DeFranco (2016), her brother, Elio Principato and her sister, Angelina ‘Babe’ Clyde.
She is survived by her four daughters: Paula DeMarco and her husband David of Monroe Twp., Doreen DeLaurier and her husband David of Long Branch, Donna Edwards and her husband Lee of Middletown and Tina Rosato and her husband Pat of Palm Harbor, FL, her sister in law, Lydia Principato of Manahawkin, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are her step children: Russell DeFranco and Debra Zaraza, five step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9:30-11am on Tuesday February 6, 2018 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831. A funeral liturgy will be 11:30am on Tuesday at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by interment in St. Gertrude Cemetery - Colonia, NJ.
