William Howard Snyder, 85, died on Saturday January 6, 2018 at the Chelsea @ Forsgate in Monroe Twp. William was born and raised in Elizabeth. He later moved to Jersey City and Keansburg, retiring to Toms River where he lived until 2012. He then moved to Beverly, MA to live with his daughter until 2017 when he moved to Monroe Twp. William proudly served his country in the US Army from 1951-1954. He started his career as a runner on Wall Street, working there for 2 years before going to work with his father at American Can Co. in Metuchen where he worked for 42 years until his retirement in 1994. William was a huge movie buff. He enjoyed listening to Big Band music and watching tennis and baseball. He loved taking long car rides and going on trips. William was most proud of inventing his own baseball score card. William was predeceased by his wife Claudia (Coleman) Snyder (2012), his brother, Allen Snyder and his sister, Beverly Calpini. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Hooten and her partner Lucia Millan of Spotswood, two aunts: Anna Bovino of Manville and Sue Maloney of Clark, two cousins: Louis Miller and Pat Demartino-Miller of Teaneck, three nieces: Sherry Calpini of Manchester, Donna Calpini of Salina, KS and Dawn Tymesko Calpini of Belmar and one nephew, Thomas Calpini of Howell. A private cremation is being held under the direction of the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555. A memorial mass will be 9:30am on Saturday January 20, 2018 at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society - www.cancer.org.
