Carol M. (Durso) Merwin passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday December 30, 2017. She was 59 years old. Carol was born and raised in Cliffwood Beach. She lived in South Amboy for several years and has resided in Monroe Twp. since 1986. She was a LPN and worked for Roosevelt Hospital in Edison before working as a private duty nurse for many years. For the past 12 years, she had worked as an outreach professional for the Township of Monroe. She was pre-deceased by her parents, George and Gerda (Peter) Durso, and her brother, Peter Durso. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Wayne Merwin of Stonebridge, Monroe Twp., three siblings, Leroy Durso and his wife Patricia of Jackson, Joseph Durso of Tennessee, and Jean Quabeck of Pittsburgh, PA, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Visitation will be from 3-7pm on Tuesday January 2, 2018 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral service will begin at 6:30pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation is private. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
