Obituary of Henry "Hank" Eichler

Henry (Hank) Eichler passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Mr. Eichler was born in New Brunswick, NJ, in 1943. He lived in Edison & Kendall Park for most of his life before moving to Rossmoor in Monroe Twp. in 2013.
He graduated from Edison High School and attended Park College in Parkville, MO, before enlisting in the US Army Military Police and serving at Camp Zama and Camp Drake, Japan. Following his military service, he worked in the aluminum can industry as a supervisor at Reynolds Metals Co in Avenel, NJ, followed by National Can in Fogelsville, PA, and American National Can in Monmouth Junction, NJ, where he retired in 2007.
Hank has been a member of American Legion Post 401 in Monmouth Junction for over 25 years serving as Bar Chairman. Aside from donating his time at the Legion, he loved Classic Car Shows and driving his award-winning 1956 Plymouth Convertible in holiday parades in various local towns; as well as cruising throughout the Caribbean and Europe with family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Henry L Eichler and Dorothy Clara Pederson and his sister, Joan Mitchie Albury.
Hank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Mainwaring Eichler and daughters Susan Eichler-Huston and husband Michael of Edison; and Karen Eichler and husband Eric Davies of San Francisco, California; and three grandchildren: Elizabeth, Victoria and Charlie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 2pm-6pm on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Twp., NJ 08831- (732) 521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:00am on Monday, November 13, 2017, from the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am at St. Augustine of Canterbury RC Church, 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park, NJ 08824, followed by Entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.
