Albert (Al) J. Castellano died on Saturday November 4, 2017 at home in Monroe Twp. He was 87 years old. Mr. Castellano was born and raised in New York City. He resided in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn for many years before moving to Monroe Twp. in 2008 to be with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a cabinet maker and later a Deli Manager at Waldbaums in Brooklyn before his retirement in 1996. Al was a quiet gentle man who loved Opera, Mario Lanza and the Mets. But nothing compared to his immense love for his family and the time he spent with them.
Albert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion (Benedetto) Castellano in 2013, his beautiful daughter, Joanne Castellano in 2015, and four siblings.
He is survived by his son, Philip E. Castellano and his wife Geraldine of Monroe Twp., five grandchildren, Drew Mathes, John Altman and his wife Ashley, James Altman, Philip A. Castellano, and Kiera Castellano, one great grandson, Jace Altman, one sister-in-law, Jeanie DiAndrea and her husband Anthony of Staten Island, NY, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday November 7, 2017 and from 9am to 10am on Wednesday November 8, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555 - www.demarcofuneralhome.com. A Catholic blessing will be 10am on Wednesday November 8, 2017 at the funeral home followed by Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
