Obituary of Jeffrey J. Chewning, Sr.

Jeffrey J. Chewning, Sr. died on Saturday October 21, 2017 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 70 years old. Mr. Chewning was born in Roanoke, VA and resided for many years in New Brunswick and Spotswood before moving to Monroe Twp. in 1980. He was a cement mason for the BAC International Union #5 in Bordentown for 50 years before his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed collecting comic books with his son, Jeffrey, and in his earlier years, enjoyed playing wiffle ball.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Claire (O’Hagan) Chewning in 2014, and two siblings, Wendy Chewning, and Gary Chewning.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey J. Chewning, Jr. and his wife Christine Poole, and Timothy Chewning and his wife Lisa, one brother, Woodrow Chewning and his wife Deanna of Spotswood, five grandchildren, MacKensie, Oliver, Miles, Marina, and India, and many other extended family members.
A memorial gathering will be held from 1-2pm on Thursday October 26, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by words of remembrance at 2pm.
