Obituary of Helen Elwert

Helen (Simon) Elwert, 95, of Monroe Twp. died on Friday October 6, 2017 at The Elms of Cranbury. Helen was born in Tarrytown, NY and moved to Newark as a young girl. Upon marriage, she followed her husband Joseph to Texas where they lived while he was stationed there during the war. They then lived in North Arlington, Union and Springfield for 10 years, finally settling in Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. 35 years ago. Helen was employed as a lab technician for Weston Instrument Corporation in Newark for 25 years until she retired. She loved playing cards with her card group and going on trips to Atlantic City. She traveled extensively with her husband to many different countries all over the world. Helen also enjoyed music, especially big band music from the 1940’s and contemporary folk music. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Victor Elwert (2008). She is survived by her son, Richard Elwert and his wife Claudia of Westfield and her daughter, Linda Pelletier of Ormstown, Quebec, CA. A private cremation is being held under the direction of the M.
