Liborio P. (Barry) Alessi, 74, of Monroe Township, died on Thursday September 21, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Barry was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Staten Island for 40 years before moving to Stonebridge, Monroe Twp. in 2009. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Barry was employed as a printer for Chas P. Young in New York City for over 30 years and then as print shop manager at Smith Barney/Citigroup for 15 years. Barry was a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Knights of Columbus Council #14658 and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus for the Immaculate Conception Assembly #1848. He loved fishing, was a HAM radio aficionado and an avid NY Yankees fan. Most of all he loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vita (Barbarito) Alessi of Monroe Twp., his son, Peter Alessi and his wife Kathy of Millstone, two daughters: Vita Gardiner and her husband Peter of Middletown and DeAnna Aldinger and her husband Ron of Staten Island, one brother, Patrick Alessi and his wife Linda of Cinnaminson, one sister, Johanna Mongiello and her husband William of Staten Island and nine grandchildren: Steven, Sean & Kylie Gardiner, Vincent Avery, John & Luke Alessi and Gianna & Jack Aldinger. Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday September 25, 2017 and from 9:15 am to 10:15am on Tuesday September 26, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555. A funeral Liturgy will be 11:00am on Tuesday at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, followed by Interment in Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery - Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers and for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association - www.heart.org.
