Antoinette Scavone died on Monday August 28, 2017 at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. She was 97 years old. Miss Scavone was born in Trapani, Sicily, Italy and came to the US at a very young age. She was raised in Astoria, Queens, NY and has resided in Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. since 1989. She began working at 16 years old to help support her family during the Great Depression and was a legal secretary for several lawyers in New York and New Jersey throughout her career. She loved to play the piano, especially the song Fascination, and she also loved opera. She was a member of the Italian American Club of Rossmoor and was also active in other clubs within the Rossmoor Community. She enjoyed playing the piano at local nursing homes, but above all else, she cherished the time spent with her family. She was a very generous and loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Nina H. Scavone, who died on August 11, 2017, and her brother Andrew Scavone. She is survived by her sister, Theresa Morrongiello and her husband Joseph of South River, five nieces and nephews, Carol Angersbach and her husband Charles of McGaheysville, VA, Anthony Morrongiello and his wife Abbe of Franklin, MA, Matthew Morrongiello and his wife Debra of Hamilton, Joanne Manfre and her husband Charles of East Brunswick, and Christine Reilley and her husband Kevin of Spotswood, and many other great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Friday September 1, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Saturday September 2, 2017 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am on Saturday at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church 185 Applegarth Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, NY. In lieu of flowers and for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital - www.stjude.org.
