Nina H. Scavone died, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday August 11, 2017 at her home in Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. She was 94 years old. Miss Scavone was born and raised in Astoria, Queens, NY. She has resided in Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. since 1989. She was a payroll auditor for the US Civil Service Commission in New York City for over 30 years before her retirement in 1977. She loved art, painting, drawing, photography, music, dancing, listening to Frank Sinatra, and baking, especially butter cookies. She was the family historian and kept detailed records including organizing pictures of the family. She taught her family many silly songs and games and always kept them entertained. She was extremely proud of her Italian heritage. Her family will always remember her as a very generous and loving sister and aunt.
She is survived by two siblings, Antoinette Scavone of Rossmoor, Monroe Twp., and Theresa Morrongiello and her husband Joseph of South River, five nieces and nephews, Carol Angersbach and her husband Charles of McGaheysville, VA, Anthony Morrongiello and his wife Abbe of Franklin, MA, Matthew Morrongiello and his wife Debra of Hamilton, Joanne Manfre and her husband Charles of East Brunswick, and Christine Reilley and her husband Kevin of Spotswood, and many other great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday August 15, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555, www.demarcofuneralhome.com. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Wednesday August 16, 2017 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30am on Wednesday at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp., followed by Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, NY.
