Obituary of Frank V. Punturieri

Frank V. Punturieri died on Tuesday August 1, 2017. He was 84 years old. Mr. Punturieri was born and raised in Brooklyn. He lived in Brentwood, LI, NY and Mellville, LI, NY for many years. Most recently he resided in Greenbriar @ Whittingham, Monroe Twp. since 2016. Frank travelled to the North Pole, Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and crossed the Arctic Circle, the ‘Blue Nose,’ during his service in the US Navy. He served during the Korean Conflict. He received his Master’s Degree in Art from the Pratt Institute in 1961 and was an art teacher for West Babylon Junior High School where he worked for 32 years. He retired in 1992 as Chairman of the Art Department. He was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues. He was a former parishioner of St. Luke’s RC Church in Brentwood, NY, and was a current parishioner of St. James the Less RC Church, Jamesburg. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus and was a member of the St. James the Less RC Church K of C Council #6336, Jamesburg.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ida F. (Gonnelli) Punturieri of Greenbriar @ Whittingham, four children, Donna A. Saieva and her husband Joseph of Monroe Twp., Frank D. Punturieri of New Hamburg, NY, Dr. Nicholas Punturieri and his wife Suzanne of Newark, DE, and Carole Punturieri of Auburn, NY, six grandchildren, Matthew Saieva, Sarah Saieva, Jenna Punturieri, Kathleen Stomps, Frank Stomps, and Luke Punturieri, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Friday August 4, 2017 and from 9:00am to 9:30am on Saturday August 5, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Saturday from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday at St. James the Less RC Church, Jamesburg, followed by Interment in St. Charles’ Cemetery, Farmingdale, LI, NY.
