Obituary of Barbara A. Catanese

Barbara A. (Gresh) Catanese, 77, of Monroe Twp. died on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. Barbara was born and raised in New Brunswick and lived in North Brunswick before moving to Monroe Twp. in 2003. Barbara was Assistant to the Principal at St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick for 8 years and Principle Clerk to the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders for over 15 years until her retirement in 2010. Barbara was a leader in various clubs and groups, including past President of the North Brunswick Woman's Club and she was very active in the Rossmoor community. She was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church in Monroe Twp. where she was a lector at Mass and a member of the choir. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Peter N. Catanese (2000). She is survived by two daughters: Maria Hurley and her husband John (Jack) of Ocean Township, NJ and Barbara Geib and her husband Ernie of Somerset, NJ, three cherished and loved grandchildren: Jack and Collin Hurley and Erin Geib, one aunt: Veronica Fiore, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and very dear friends. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Monday June 19, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Tuesday June 20, 2017 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by entombment in St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum, New Brunswick.
