Obituary of Michael O'Grady

Michael O'Grady died on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 69 years old. Mr. O'Grady was born and raised in Brooklyn. He later lived in Staten Island before moving to Concordia, Monroe Twp. in 2005. He served in the US Army's 25th Infantry during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home from war, he attended the Woodstock Festival. He was a sanitation worker for the City of New York for 16 years before his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the VFW Post 262, the American Legion Star Post 522, Monroe Twp., and the US Army 25th Infantry Historical Society. He was also a member and deacon at Calvary Chapel Crossfields, Jamesburg.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Anamarie (Daneher) O'Grady, two brothers, William O'Grady, and Thomas O'Grady, and one sister, Winifred Rielly.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Ligia O'Grady of Concordia, Monroe Twp., one daughter, Shannon Hannah Sargeant and her husband Fred of Naugatuck, CT, three step-children, Dina Marie Spiess and her husband, Christopher of Old Bridge, Melissa Latch and her husband Philip of Boston, MA, and Christopher Vega and his wife Cheryl of Jackson, his mother-in-law Irma Vesceo of Staten Island, his brother-in-law, Anthony Vesceo and his wife Laura of Brooklyn, two sister-in-laws, Debra O'Grady of Brooklyn, and Marie Kennedy and her husband Steven of Staten Island, ten grandchildren, Matthew, Sophia, Olivia, Bodie, John, Nola, Micaiah, Jude, Elisha, and Evie, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 5-9pm on Monday May 15, 2017 and from 10-10:30am on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at Calvary Chapel Crossfields, 15 Half Acre Rd. Jamesburg, NJ 08831. A funeral service will be 10:30am on Tuesday at Calvary Chapel Crossfields followed by Interment in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
