Obituary of Robert J. Bennett

Robert J. Bennett, 88, died on Tuesday March 28, 2017 at The University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Robert was born in New Brunswick and lived in Highland Park for many years. He has resided in Monroe Twp. since 1962. He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated his own mechanical contracting business in Jamesburg for 30 years before his retirement in 1993. He was a former troop leader for the Monroe Twp. Boy Scouts, and he was a member of the Applegarth Volunteer Engine Co. No. 1, and was also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 9 in Englishtown. He was a parishioner of St. James the Less RC Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patiricia E. (Page) Bennett in 2016, and three siblings, Harry Bennett, Claire Kocsis, and Mary Bennett.
He is survived by five children, Colleen P. Lucid and her husband Francis of Millstone Twp., Robert S. Bennett and his wife Susen P. of Millstone Twp., Timothy Bennett and his wife Doreen of Plumstead, Kevin Bennett and his wife Felicia of Millstone Twp., and Scott Bennett of Ewing Twp., one brother, John Bennett and his wife Yvonne of North Brunswick, one sister, Margaret Wright and her husband Edward of Highland Park, nine grandchildren, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be 4-7pm on Friday March 31, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555 – www.demarcofuneralhome.com. A Catholic blessing will be 11am on Saturday April 1, 2017 at the funeral home followed by interment in Holy Cross Burial Park – South Brunswick.
