Obituary of Robert Dowling

Robert Dowling, 85, of Monroe Twp. died on March 14, 2017 at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, FL. Robert was born and raised in Brooklyn and moved to Monroe Twp. 30 years ago. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Robert was employed by the NY Shipping Association, Local 1. Robert was an avid sports fan and especially loved playing football, golfing and going to hockey games. He loved to travel, enjoyed wintering in Florida with his wife, Theresa and loved to cook. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Dowling and his sister, Barbara Dowling-Bernard. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Theresa (Mullen) Dowling of Monroe Twp. and his brother, William Dowling and his wife Katherine of Baldwin, NY. He was a beloved uncle to Mary, Grace, William, Sheila, George, Susan, Anthony, Carole, Doreen and William and 'Mr. Adorable' to his great grand-niece Katie. Also surviving are many other extended family members and friends. Visitation will be 4-8pm on Friday March 24, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Saturday March 25, 2017 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church – 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum – South Brunswick. In lieu of flowers and for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to the charity of one's choice.
