Obituary of Dr. Thomas M. Busby

Dr. Thomas M. Busby died on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. He was 69 years old. Dr. Busby was born in Richmond, CA. He formerly lived in Metuchen, Edison, Sayreville, Stewartsville, and Piscataway. He has resided in Clearbrook, Monroe Twp. since 2015. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from The State University of NY at Oswego in 1970, received his Master's Degree in Allied Health Sciences from Rutgers University in 1981, and furthered his education obtaining his Doctorate in Higher Education Allied Health Administration from Rutgers University in 1986. Dr. Busby was a teacher of pathology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in New Brunswick. He was a member of the Boomers Club of Clearbrook. Dr. Busby was a creative and intelligent person. He enjoyed cooking, and loved photography, painting, Rutgers football, and the New York Yankees. Above all else, he was a true family man who loved his family unconditionally. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Martin and Agnes (Smith) Busby Kalkanis. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Claire (Kelly) Busby of Clearbrook, Monroe Twp., his daughter, Meaghan Heim and her husband Allan of Manalapan, his sister, Judy Gilbert and her husband Michael of Lawrenceville, one granddaughter, Alexis Heim, his step-father, Ted Kalkanis of Lawrenceville, two brothers-in-law, Bruce Kelly and his wife Terry, and Keith Kelly and his wife Christine, three nieces, Lauren Duggan and her husband Sean, Juliann Gilbert, and Sarah Gilbert, one great nephew, Heath, and many other extended family members. Cremation is private. A memorial gathering will be from 2pm to 3:30pm on Saturday January 28, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral service will begin at the conclusion of the gathering hours at 3:30pm.
