James R. Lawton – Monroe Township, NJ James R. Lawton, 78, died on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at his residence in Monroe Township, New Jersey. James was born in the Ironbound District of Newark, N.J. He resided in Union, N.J and Short Hills, NJ and has been a resident of Monroe Township for the past 12 years. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1342 for over 50 years. Jim married his devoted wife Carol nee Volker in 1966. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 25, 2016. Family was the most important thing in his life. He worked hard through the years and kept the family close. He bought a home at the Jersey Shore in 1976 for his kids to enjoy. Many happy and lasting memories were made there. As the family grew he built a home in Chadwick Beach for his grandchildren. They filled his life with much joy. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lawton, father, John Lawton and brother, John D. Lawton, who was killed in action during the Korean War in 1950. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Carol, son John Lawton and his wife Ruth Lawton, daughter, Kim Urbanik and her husband Bill Urbanik and his 4 grandchildren Sean, Thomas, Stephanie and Matthew. Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Friday January 27, 2017 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555 –www.demarcofuneralhome.com. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Saturday January 28, 2017 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am on Saturday at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church – 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe Twp., NJ. Committal Services will be private. For those who desire, memorial donations in James's name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org
