Obituary of Anne I. Hughes

Anne I. Hughes passed away on Monday October 24, 2016 at her home in Greenbriar @ Whittingham, Monroe Twp. Mrs. Hughes was born and raised in the Bronx. She lived in Edison for over 20 years before moving to Greenbriar @ Whittingham, Monroe Twp. in 2005. She graduated from St. Pius X High School in the Bronx and furthered her education at Rutgers University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She enjoyed a successful career culminating as a senior human resources manager for Worldcom in Piscataway. She retired in 2005. She ran track in high school, and later in life, volunteered for the Special Olympics, and taught reading at the Monroe Twp. Public Library. She was a member of the Greenbriar @ Whittingham Ladies Golf Association, and the Red Hatters Club. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed line dancing and yoga.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, James Joseph and Sarah (Casey) Hughes, and two siblings, Dympna Hughes, and James Hughes.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Marie Leahy and her husband Jeff Wieland of Dunwoody, GA, and Joan Glenn and her husband Brett of Westfield, two siblings, Joseph Hughes and his wife Winifred of Laurel Hollow, NY, and Geraldine Martinez and her husband Adolph of Satellite Beach, FL, her sister in law, Kathleen Hughes of Clearwater, FL, four grandchildren, Kathryn Anne, Michael James Scott, Brett James, and Brendan Hughes, her dear friend, John Hickey, and many other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Wednesday October 26, 2016 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555 – www.demarcofuneralhome.com. Funeral services will begin at 9:15am on Thursday October 27, 2016 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 10am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. followed by Interment in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
