My heartfelt condolences to the entire Mandato family. I knew Phil and his mother Ann many years ago. We all worked together at Curtis Industries. Phil was always a very sweet, sweet guy. A bunch of us kids got together for a BBQ party at a park, with rock music, as a send off for Phil. He was leaving soon for Upsala and worried about football try-outs. He always had a kind word for all he knew. I saw him last in March 1990, but I have never forgotten him. No one could ever forget Phil. He left such an impression on you. It was his sincerity. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. So very sad. RIP friend.

Judy and the Mandato family,
My deepest condolences for your loss. I feel so lucky to have worked with Phil for the last year. As so many have said, he was such a positive, friendly, caring force in the office each day and he had a natural talent for making us feel like a team. I most enjoyed getting to know him and you through the wonderful stories he shared. My favorite was watching him light up each Monday as he talked about what he had done over the weekend with his grandchildren. I hope that in this time of sadness, you can find comfort in the wonderful memories of him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Judy and the entire Mandato family, We are very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Phil through work and enjoyed every interaction with him. Phil had such a kind heart, a strong positive energy, and an amazing ability to make me smile with a simple hello! My husband knew Phil as well as a friendly workout buddy, who was always wiling to spot him and was always very kind. He will be missed by so many people at J&J. We will continue to keep you all in our prayers as you move through this difficult process... The Spence Family

Dear Mandato Family:
Phil will always be in our hearts. My Husband and I love Phil. We are also one of the many lucky people that worked with him. That learned from him. We have many memories of Phil, but we will always remember his kindness, compassion, his amazing life stories, his love for his family and The Lord. He always took the time to be kind to everyone around him. Even when you were a young co-op student a million years ago … he is and will always be an amazing guy… with a big heart! You are in our prayers during these difficult times. We will miss him…The Vogt Family

I am a work colleague of Phil\'s and had the privelege of working with him during a project a couple of years ago. Phil and I quickly found the military service in common; I think I remember him mentioning his son was in the Marine Corps? Forgive me if I don\'t remember accurately. But we often talked about the military since I was in the Navy, and he always asked me to wear red on Fridays. He was a good natured man, and a hard worker no doubt. Wishing the family strength and comfort during this difficult time, and hope you find peace in celebrating his new life. Warmest regards, Anna Cruz (J&J)

To a great friend, father, grandfather, football player and man. Your awesome presence will live on with your family and friends. I know that there had to be a plan for you to be taken too soon. My best bet is that Archangel Michael needed help from someone as tough as you. Tough, with a heart that ran the width of your large chest. I am just blessed to have had the pleasure of your company and friendship along with Barry. RIP

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with and have Phil as a friend for the past 15 years. Since the day I met him, he was a great friend and someone who would always bring a smile to your face. One of the first things Phil taught me was how to brew a good cup of coffee.... Raise the pot to the light and if you can see through it, start over. Hope we all remember the great influence Phil had on our daily lives, both in the little and big things.
Deepest condolences to Phil's family.

Judy and Mandato Family,
I've had the pleasure of working with Phil closely and the chance to get to know him better more recently on a work project over the last few years. Many of Phil's other J&J colleagues knew Phil better and for a far greater number of years that I. But whether you knew him for years or for just a short time, it didn't take more than a conversation or two to know how kind, thoughtful and caring he was; Or how patriotic he was (I and many others have a "Friday RED" wardrobe because of his love for our country and our troops!); How selfless he was; How much he loved Judy, his children, grandchildren, etc.

If you are not already…one thing you will NEED to get used to is hearing over and over is people saying what a gentleman and genuinely "great guy" was Phil. No one who has known him has walked away with a different impression than that. Phil made very close emotional bonds with the people he worked with. He's the guy who'd have tears in his eyes any time a co-worker left his department. Similarly, ALL of his past and present coworkers have tears now, too.
Anyway, I can't imagine what YOU are going through, but I am so sorry. To his family and close friends, please know that I'm praying for you and Phil and please accept my condolences.
Rich Albanese & Family

Lunchtime was my favorite time in Skillman, not only does that mean I'd get to sit with Phil but it was a daily surprise what he'd be eating. No one would be surprised to see a tuna fish, pickled eggs, and Kimchi with mayo combo. But that's Phil, he liked his food like the people around him; all backgrounds, ages, all flavors of life were welcome at Phil's round table. The table was truly round and forever expanding, if you wanted to sit with Phil a chair would always be found for you. A rare gem of a human being, Skillman and J&J have lost an amazing ambassador.

Dear Phil, Jason, Judy, and family,
I cannot describe how sorry I am for your loss. When I started back with J&J last January, I would have never imagined making a friendship like I had with Phil. He took me under his wing and looked out for me in every aspect of the role. He set me on the right track with the company, and did the same for so many others. He was my best friend at work, and a role model to me and countless others. I had many great times with Phil listening to AC/DC early before others came into office or talking about sports and fishing. We also spent what felt like forever working through inventory issues and other supply chain problems, but Phil always maintained a positive attitude about no matter the situation. Looking back, I wish that those times never ended. Earlier this year when I moved to a new role, I brought Phil's Red Friday with me and now my entire site Remembers Everyone Deployed. It is great to come into work on a Friday, and still have a little bit of Phil with me in this new position. He will be forever missed, but always remembered as the true friend that he was.
