Obituary of Carmen T. Santalla

Carmen T. Santalla, 75, died on Tuesday August 30, 2016 at her residence in Reno, NV. Carmen was born in Havana, Cuba. She came to the United States in 1969 and lived for many years in the Bronx, NY and Colonia, NJ before resting in Reno, NV. She was employed by the Republic National Bank in Brooklyn as a mortgage collector. She loved to dance and listen to music but most of all adored and was always very proud of her children and grandchildren to whom she was lovingly known as Mima. Carmen was a strong supporter of numerous causes relating to benefits for our veterans, having both her late sons serve in the US Marines and US Army. Her wicked temper but great sense of humor will always be remembered by her family and many friends.
Carmen was predeceased by her husband Andres M. Santalla (1988), her grandson Erik O. Santalla (2012), her son Oscar Santalla (2014) and her son Andres E. Santalla (2015).
She is survived by her daughter Lourdes C. Santalla of Reno, NV, eight grandchildren: Andres P. Santalla, Daniel A. Santalla, Jennifer L. Santalla, Maegan M. Santalla, Osvaldo "Ozzie" Otero, Christina Otero, Jasmine A. Santalla and Jason Santalla and her daughter in law Leticia Santalla. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8pm on Thursday September 8, 2016 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 am on Friday September 9, 2016 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10am on Friday at St. James the Less RC Church – 36 Lincoln Ave., Jamesburg, NJ 08831 followed by interment in Madonna Cemetery and Mausoleum – 2070 Hoefleys Lane, Fort Lee, NJ 07024.
