Obituary of Vincent Ann 'Vinnie' Hennessy

Vincent Ann 'Vinnie' (Lamenza) Hennessy, 91, died on Friday, August 12, 2016 in Millstone Twp. with her loving family by her side. Vinne, the daughter of Vincent Lamenza and Antonia (Munno) Lamenza, was born in Manhattan, NY and resided in Marco Island, FL where she was a member of San Marco Catholic Church. Vinnie received her undergraduate degree in English from Hunter College and her MA in English and Education from Columbia University. She met her beloved husband John Joseph Hennessy while working at the Goddard Riverside Community Center in New York City. Vinnie was also employed as a teacher at Saint Patrick's School in Elmira, NY and Corpus Christi School in South River. While busy raising her family of five children, she remained an active member of her community serving as the first Ladies Auxiliary President for the East Brunswick Elks Lodge #2370, and a Republican Committee woman in East Brunswick. Vinnie was also the founder and artistic director of Stagecrafters, a community theater in South River. She was a long time member of Marco Island Country Club.
Vinnie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Joseph Hennessy, her brother, Frank Lamenza, and her sister, Josephine.
She is survived by three sons, John Joseph Hennessy, II and his wife Mary Ann of Monroe Twp., Michael J. Hennessy and his wife Patrice of Millstone Twp., and Jeff J. Hennessy and his wife Jill of Millstone Twp., two daughters, Joelyn Melzl and her husband Mark of Old Bridge, and Jackie Fishbein and her husband Alex of Old Bridge, one sister, Anna Davidson of Bridgewater, 18 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
A funeral liturgy will be 12:00pm on Friday August 19, 2016 at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Spotswood followed by Interment in Holy Cross Burial Park, S. Brunswick. Visitation is private and funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc.
