Robert H. Colgan, 83, of Monroe Twp. died on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Robert was born and raised in Astoria, Queens, NY and resided there until moving to the Renaissance @ Monroe in Monroe Twp. in 2009. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a salesman in the textile industry before working as a building services manager. Robert was an avid reader and a history buff. He was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Astoria, Queens and a member of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church in Monroe Twp. Over the years Uncle Bob developed a close bond with all of his 56 nieces and nephews and cherished that bond. He always had the answer to any of their questions.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents: William H. and Anna (Leiser) Colgan, three brothers: William Richard Colgan, Joseph Colgan and David Colgan and two sisters: Anna Hargreaves and Theresa Driebeek.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (Rinaldi) Colgan of Monroe Twp., his brother, Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. Colgan of Amityville, NY, his sister Jeanne M. Craig of St. Louis, MO, his brother in law, Donald Driebeek of Keerbergen, Belgium, his sister in law, Katherine S. Colgan of Augusta, GA, 56 loving nieces and nephews and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday July 5, 2016 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Wednesday July 6, 2016 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am on Wednesday at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church – 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831. Interment will be 2pm in Mount St. Mary Cemetery – 172-00 Booth Memorial Ave., Flushing, NY 11365.
