Anthony Giamportone, 88, died on Saturday February 6, 2016 at Millennium Memory Care – Monroe Township, NJ. Anthony was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He resided there for most of his life before moving to The Ponds – Monroe Township, NJ in 1997. Anthony was a US Navy Veteran, serving in both WWII and the Korean War. He was employed by the New York City Housing Authority as a Senior Stock Supplier for over thirty five years retiring in 1994. He was also employed by Merrill Lynch as a filing clerk, retiring from there in 1985. Anthony was a Fourth Degree Knight - Knights of Columbus St. James Council No. 6336 – Monroe Township, NJ. Anthony was preceded in death by his brother Joe and his sisters, Sadie and Lucy. Anthony is survived by his loving wife Grace (DiCandido) Giamportone of The Ponds – Monroe Township, NJ, two daughters: Debra Nichols and her husband Larry of Rocklin, CA and Luann Barry and her husband Robert of Edison, NJ, two grandchildren: Alyssa and Erica Barry both of Edison, NJ, his sister Josie Maccariello of Staten Island, NY and many other family and friends. Visitation will be 5-9pm on Wednesday February 10, 2016 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Thursday February 11, 2016 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church – 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Mausoleum – South Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations be made in Anthony's name to the Community Food Bank of NJ – 31 Evans Terminal Rd., Hillside, NJ 07205.
