Obituary of Catherine E. Woods

Catherine Eileen Woods Mrs. Catherine Eileen Woods, born Catherine Eileen Daly in New Brighton, Staten Island, New York on November 27, 1920, died on Sunday February 7, 2016 at The Elms of Cranbury in Cranbury New Jersey. Mrs. Woods was a graduate of St. Peter's High School. She was married for over fifty years to John F. Woods who died January 12, 2006. During World War II, Mrs. Woods worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Brooklyn Army Base. From 1945-1956, Mrs. Woods was employed by Foster Wheeler Engineering Corporation, in Manhattan as a private secretary. In 1984, the Woods family moved to Metuchen, NJ where Mrs. Woods worked for eight years for John F. Kennedy Medical Center. In 1993, while living in Rossmoor (Monroe Township, NJ), Mr. and Mrs. Woods were members of the Emerald Society and Catholic Society. When Mrs. Woods's children were small, she was a Girl Scout leader at St. Rita's School in, Staten Island, NY. Her hobbies included: knitting, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her adored family. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary F. Sasor and her husband Robert, Catherine Woods and her husband Michael Cunningham, four grandchildren; Thomas Cunningham, Emma Cunningham, Michael Sasor and Kelly Eileen Sasor and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9pm on Friday February 12, 2016 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Saturday February 13, 2016 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe Township, NJ followed by interment in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
