Matthew Jared Blatz, of East Brunswick, died Monday, Feb. 1. He was 31. Born in East Brunswick, Matthew was a 2002 graduate of East Brunswick High School and earned a B.S. in finance from the University of Delaware, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He had multiple series of finance licenses and was employed for the past eight years by Bank of America/Merrill Lynch in Hopewell as a relationship partner in the private banking investment group. Matt married his best friend, Lauren, in 2014, and together they loved to roam the outdoors with their beloved dog, Mocha, and attend concerts, especially Phish. Gregarious, fun-loving, and a best friend to all, Matt brightened every room. He was a front-row Yankees and Giants fan since his childhood and his love of sports, his keen sense of humor, and his delight in life's hilarity brought joy and laughter to his wife, friends and family. He was devoted to all his loved ones and gave of himself freely and without limit. He is survived by his wife, the former Lauren Brenner, and their dog, Mocha; his parents Charles and Debra (DiCara) and his sister, Samantha, all of East Brunswick; his aunts Rosemary DiCara of Spotswood, Barbara Stone and her husband Julian of California, and Jennifer Wiessner and her husband Gregory of Maine; his uncles Gary Blatz and his partner Donna O'Neill of Vermont; Thomas Blatz and his wife Mary Kay of Maine; and Brian Blatz and his partner Dan Davis of New Brunswick; his father-in-law, Dennis Brenner of Monroe; his mother-in- law, Merle Brenner and her husband Larry Udoff of Somerset; his brother-in-law, Jason Brenner and his fiancé Jena D'Agnes of Somerset; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Brenner-Cohen and her husband, Adam, of Montclair; his nephews Ben and Jack; and seven cousins and many devoted friends who loved him and will always feel his joyful presence. Visitation will be 2-6 pm on Sunday, Feb. 7, at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home; 205 Rhode Hall Road, in Monroe www.demarcofuneralhome.com. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 am on Monday, Feb. 8, from the funeral home, and a funeral liturgy begins at 10:15 am at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Spotswood, followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum in South Brunswick.
