Joseph A. Albergo – 87 – Monroe Twp.
Joseph A. Albergo, 87, of Monroe Twp. died on Tuesday January 12, 2016 at RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick. Joseph was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Florida and Washington DC for 25 years before moving to New Jersey and making Monroe Twp. his home in 1987. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He attended the University of Florida, Gainesville, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture. After graduating he worked for various private architectural firms and finally for the Department of Defense at McGuire Air Force Base for 28 years, retiring in 2006. Joseph was a member of the Sons of Italy in Virginia. He was a water color artist, loved music and arts and was an avid reader. Joseph was a history buff and enjoyed political debates.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lilia (Sanchez) Albergo, his son Mark Albergo of Lyndhurst, his daughter Gail Albergo of Durham, NC, one brother Frank Albergo of Tampa, FL, three sisters: Angela Kuff of Boynton Beach, FL, Carol Ann Brennan of Cherry Hill and Colette Fanelli of West Virginia, and three grandchildren: Isabella, Antonio and Malcolm.
A memorial gathering will be 6-9pm on Friday January 15, 2016 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. A memorial service will be 1pm on Saturday January 16, 2016 at the funeral home.
