Joseph Gidaro, 86, died on Saturday July 11, 2015 at St. Peter's University Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Joseph was born on November 11, 1928 in Tiriolo, Calabria, Italy and at the age of nineteen he came to the United States with his brother, two sisters and his mother to join his father. He resided in Perth Amboy and Port Reading before moving to Rossmoor, Monroe Township nine years ago. He was employed by Kaden Trucking, Anaconda Copper Works and by the Woodbridge Public School System in food services.
Joseph was a member of the Italian Tripoli Club, enjoyed playing bocce ball and was an avid fan of professional wrestling. Joseph also liked to attend matches of his favorite soccer team, The New York Cosmos.
Joseph is preceded in death by two brothers: Saverio Gidaro and Domenico Gidaro and two sisters: Maria Verre and Elisabetta Maruca.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Covino Gidaro of Rossmoor, Monroe Township, a son Joseph C. Gidaro of Staten Island, a daughter Doreen Jogan and her husband Robert of Cranbury two grandchildren: Robert Jogan of Hopewell and Alana Jogan of Cranbury and two sisters: Yolanda Colacino of Perth Amboy and Mafalda Trupia of Deerfield Beach, FL. Also surviving are many godchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-9pm on Wednesday July 15, 2015 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 am on Thursday July 16, 2015 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday at St. James the Less RC Church – Jamesburg followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum – South Brunswick.
