Obituary of Jules J. Herbert, Jr.

Jules J. Herbert, Jr., 87, died on July 3, 2015 at Merwick Care and Rehab Center in Plainsboro. Jules was born in New York City and raised in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. He graduated from HS Commerce in Manhattan and earned his B.A. from New York University's School of Commerce Accounts and Finance. He furthered his education at Rutgers University, graduating from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking of the American Bankers Association. Jules started working for Chemical Bank as a Branch Manager at their Fordham Road office in the Bronx and worked his way up to Sr. Vice President in their Commercial Lending Office on Wall Street retiring after 35 years of service. In addition, he was an instructor at the American Institute of Banking in NYC for 15 years. He loved bowling, golfing, down hill skiing, cross country skiing and tennis, his favorite sport. He was an avid collector of British Military Miniature Soldiers. Jules was an active member of the Episcopal Church and was most recently a member of St. David's in Cranbury. He was a loving husband, friend, father and grandfather with an amazing wit about him. Jules is survived by his loving wife of (almost) 50 years, Jennie (LaFuria) Herbert, three sons: Jules of Hoboken, Keith and his wife Carolyn of Robbinsville and Craig of East Brunswick, five grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Austin, Brian, Jake and Jordan and one nephew, Andrew Charley. Visitation will be 5-7pm on Sunday July 5, 2015 and 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday July 6, 2015 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9am on Tuesday July 7, 2015 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10am at St. David's Episcopal Church – Cranbury followed by entombment in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery – Marlboro. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association NJ Chapter – www.alz.org/nj/.
