Obituary of Ilse H. Mychalchyk

Ilse Mychalchyk, nee Deuschel, 89, of Jamesburg, NJ, passed away on May 13th, 2015 after a long illness. Ilse was born and raised in Mannheim, Germany, to Berta and Jakob Deuschel. She met her late husband Walter Mychalchyk, the former Mayor of Jamesburg, in Germany, in 1963. They married in 1964 and settled in Jamesburg.
Ilse worked for the U.S. Army Procurement Office in Germany for many years. After moving to America, Ilse worked for Princeton University. She worked as a secretary in the Germanic Department and later as an editor for The Papers of Woodrow Wilson. She retired after 27 years, of loyal service, on November 10, 1990.
On September 15, 2005, Ilse was very proud and honored to become an American Citizen and receive her Certificate of Naturalization.
Since Ilse loved flowers and gardening so much, she joined the Jamesburg Garden Club. She was also a member of the Jamesburg Senior Citizens.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Albert Schon in 1953, and Walter Mychalchyk in 1981.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele Weiman, and her husband Henry, two grandchildren, Hudson, and Hunter. Her cousin Leni Ulrich in Germany, her wonderful friend and caregiver Norma Smith, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday May 16, 2015 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral service will begin at 4:00pm at the conclusion of the visiting hours. Cremation is private.
