Carl A. Leone, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 25, 2015 at The Elms of Cranbury. He was born and raised in New Brunswick. He resided in East Brunswick for 45 years before moving to Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. in 2000. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an Air Policeman from 1951 to 1955. He and his wife, Mary, owned and operated the Knothole Sweet Shop in East Brunswick from 1955 to 1959. He was a barber and owned and operated his own barbershop, Leone's Barber Shop on Main Street in Milltown for several years before moving the shop to Highland Park and changing the name to Rutgers Barber Shop. He later operated the same barber shop out of Brunswick Zone in North Brunswick. He was a former President of the Barber's Union in Middlesex County. Carl was an avid bowler and at one time was the Pro at Brunswick Zone, formally Carolier Lanes on Hwy 1 in North Brunswick. He also loved to play golf. He was a former communicant of St. Bartholomew RC Church in East Brunswick from the time of its inception. He was currently a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp.
He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Santa (Lespina) Leone, and a brother, Russell.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Vanacore) Leone of Rossmoor, Monroe Twp., his daughter Sandra and her fiancée Jay Kimball of East Brunswick, his son, Robert and his wife Eileen Foley of East Brunswick, two beautiful grandchildren, Kyle and Emily Leone, his brother, Salvatore Leone, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 6:30pm on Tuesday April 28, 2015 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. A funeral service will take place at the conclusion of the visiting hours at 6:30pm at the funeral home. Cremation is private.
