Obituary of Richard G. Salem

Richard G. Salem died on January 22, 2015 at RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 83 years old. Richard was born and raised in the Bronx, NY before moving to Manhattan and then Clearbrook in Monroe Twp. in 1985. Richard was employed by NY Telephone Company, Local IBEW #3 for 20 years and then Verizon for 5 years until his retirement in 2001. He was a New York Jets fan and enjoyed fishing, theatre, fantasy football and spending time with his family. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Salem, his second wife Marion V. Salem (2005) and his brother George Salem. He is survived by his two sons: Edward and his wife Elsie of Staten Island and William and his wife Phyllis of Virginia, two daughters: Carol Abbott and her husband Michael of Colorado and Katherine Salem of Corning, NY, his companion of 6 years, Louise Casalaspro of Clearbrook, Monroe Twp. one sister, Linda Ulmer and her husband John of the Bronx, NY, five grandchildren and three great granddaughters. Visitation will be from 1-5pm on Sunday January 25, 2015 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. A funeral service will begin at 5pm following the visitation at the funeral home. Cremation is private.
