Obituary of Romeo M. Gambassi

Romeo M. Gambassi died peacefully in his sleep on December 15, 2014 at his home in Monroe Township next to his loving wife of 63 years. He was 86 years old. Romeo was born in San Vittere del Lazio, Italy and raised in Brooklyn. He lived in Staten Island for 37 years before moving to the Regency, Monroe Twp. in 2013. He served in the US Navy Reserves. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for the NYC Housing Authority until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed fishing and playing pinochle and bocce and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a former parishioner of St. Joseph St. Thomas RC Church in Staten Island.
Romeo was preceded in death by his brother Angelo Gambassi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Antoinette (Russo) Gambassi of Monroe Twp., his daughters Annette Langer and her husband Jeffrey of Holmdel, Marilyn Agnetti and her fiancée Steven Gilbert of Monroe Twp., one son Ronald Gambassi and his wife Sarah of Boise, ID, five sisters, Mary Ann, Ida, Rose, Yolanda, and Mary, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 6-9pm on Friday December 19, 2014 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555, www.demarcofuneralhome.com. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Saturday December 20, 2014 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by Entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, 850 Cranbury/S. River Rd. South Brunswick Twp., NJ 08810.
