Obituary of Ray O. Grasso

Ray O. Grasso died on Thursday November 27, 2014 at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge. He was 79 years old. Mr. Grasso was born and raised in Brooklyn. He later resided in Staten Island before moving to The Ponds, Monroe Twp. in 1999. He served in the US Marine Corps. He began his working career as an insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance Co. He then worked as a general contractor for Jack Resnick Construction Co., as well as owning and operating his own business, Grasso Construction Co. He was a general contractor for over 20 years for Ambassador Construction Co. in NYC and retired in 2002. He spent winter months in Florida, was a member of the Italian American Club of The Ponds, and was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. He enjoyed photography, travelling, gardening, and cooking. He was pre-deceased by his son, Ray Grasso in 1971. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Camille (Rago) Grasso of The Ponds, Monroe Twp., three sons, Dennis S. Grasso and his wife Christine of Fairfield, Douglas R. Grasso and his wife Patricia of Staten Island, and Dean A. Grasso, Sr. and his wife Michele of Monroe Twp., four siblings, Grace Cafaro of Peoria, IL, Rose Surber and her husband Edward of Saratoga Springs, NY, Mary Bavaro of NYC, and Victor Grasso and his wife Rosemarie of Davie, FL, 11 grandchildren, Samantha M., Raquel M., Gianni T., Vincente D., Salvatore L., Cierra R., Steven M., Dean A., Jr., Marissa R., Adriana E., and Raymond P., and many other extended family members and friends. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday November 30, 2014 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:15am on Monday December 1, 2014 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. Followed by Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery, Staten Island.
