Obituary of Iris T. Matos

Iris Teresa Matos – 91 – Lakewood Iris Teresa Matos, 91, of Lakewood, NJ passed away on August 23, 2014. "Tess", as she was known by her family and friends, was the wife of David Matos for 62 years until his passing in 2007. Born February 10, 1923 in Carolina, Puerto Rico Tess grew up in Manhattan, NY and raised her family in East Brunswick, NJ where she enjoyed a wonderful life as a mother, homemaker and a career at JC Penney for 18 years as a Merchandising Assistant before ultimately settling down in Lakewood, NJ in 1997. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader for her children. She loved life and appreciated every day as if it was a gift from god. Her greatest treasures where her family and friends. We are all going to miss her. Tess was preceded in death by her brother Robert Landrau and a son-in-law Vincent J. Hines. She is survived by her three children: Dave Matos and his wife Liz of South Brunswick, Iris (Terry) Hines of Barnegat, NJ and Pamela Petti and her husband Ron of Margate, NJ, her sister Millie Correa of Texas, five grandchildren: Teresa Heath, Sandy Pomykala, Vince Hines, Jillian Wolf and Tricia Quigley and six great grandchildren: Brian, Matthew, and Nicholas Heath and Troy, Ryan, and Darren Pomykala. Visitation will be Tuesday August 26, 2014 from 5-8pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 – 732-521-0555. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 27, 2014 at 10am at the funeral home followed by Interment in Holy Cross Burial Park – S. Brunswick.
