Obituary of Mary Virginia Smith

Mrs. Mary Virginia (Leahy) Smith died Thursday May 22nd at the Bayside Manor Nursing Home. She was 91 years old. Born in Bayonne, she lived in Jersey City and then Edison for 37 years, and the n The Homestead Community in Columbus, NJ for 27 years. She was active in her homestead community with her husband, with memberships in several clubs and bowling groups. While living in Edison, she was active with her husband with the St. Francis Council knights of Columbus. She was most proud of her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband Robert K. Smith died in 1997. Surviving are two sons, Robert E and his wife, Deanna of Phoenix, AZ, and Frederick "Rick" and his wife, Patricia of Monroe Twp., a daughter, Virginia Thomsen and her husband, Ronald of Columbus, NJ, a sister, Doris Bolt of Anderson, SC and 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will begin Monday May 26th at 10:30am at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00am at St. James RCC, Jamesburg. Private cremation will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Sunday May 25th from 6-9pm only.
