Obituary of Gerald J. 'Jerry' Cassese

Gerald J. Cassese died on Friday May 16, 2014 at his home in Monroe Twp. He was 59 years old. Jerry was born and raised in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. He later lived in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn before moving to Staten Island, where he lived for ten years. He has resided in Monroe Twp. since 1997. He served in the US Navy and was a systems engineer for Netapp in New York City. He was an avid golfer and skier. He was a sports fan and especially loved the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and Penn State. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, and gardening. He was an active church member at his former parish, Holy Child RC Church in Staten Island, and his current parish, Nativity Of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. He was a vibrant man and loved life. He more than often called his dearest family and friends 'Dude' and there wasn't a person that he couldn't make laugh. He was loved by many and like by all. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Frank and Margaret (Gerace) Cassese. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Wanda (Guarini) Cassese of Monroe Twp., two children, Nicole M. Cassese of Red Bank, and Michael F. Cassese of Westfield, his brother, Nicholas Cassese of Allentown, PA, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernesto and Crescenza (Ruggieri) Guarini, two brothers-in-law, Bruno Guarini and his wife Nathalie of Upper Saddle River, and Ezio Guarini and his wife Francine of Staten Island, five nieces and nephews, Robert Cassese, Michael Cassese, Cristina Guarini, Joey Guarini, and Luca Guarini, and many other extended family members. Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday May 19, 2014 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Tuesday May 20, 2014 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, S. Brunswick.
