Clifford Jack Milton, 92, of Monroe Township, died on Friday May 9, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.
Son of Lester and Caroline (Bock) Milton, Cliff was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He was a proud graduate of Morris High School in the Bronx where he ran track and was an editor of the school newspaper. He graduated cum laude in 1948 with a bachelor's from New York University, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a marketing executive for Keene Corporation (later named Genlyte) in NYC until his retirement in 1994.
Upon his marriage to Theresa J. (Careri) Milton in 1959, he moved to Cresskill, where together they devotedly raised four children, and he coached Little League. After retiring, he moved to The Ponds, Monroe Twp. in 1997, where he was a member of the Italian American Club. He enjoyed sailing, was an avid golfer, and was a lifelong New York Yankees and New York Jets fan.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Terry Milton in 1989, his sister Carole Trapani in 2003, and his companion Thelma L. Sigouin in 2014.
Surviving are his four children, Marianne C. Milton of Northampton, MA (and her daughter Janeia Wolfson-Milton), Jeffrey C. Milton of Hackettstown (and his wife Terri and their children Courtney Milton and Jeffrey C. Milton, Jr.), Virginia C. Milton of Monroe Twp., and Dianne M. Rinaldi of Tenafly (and her husband Thomas and their children Jack Rinaldi and Tessa Rinaldi); his brother, Robert Benfari of Englewood, FL (and his wife Judy); his four nieces and their families; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Monday May 12, 2014 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral service will be at 10:00am on Tuesday May 13, 2014 at the funeral home followed by Interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
