Obituary of Joseph Lombardo

Joseph Lombardo passed away on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 87 years old. Mr. Lombardo was born and raised in Ozone Park, Queens. He lived in Brooklyn before moving to Edison where he lived for 39 years before settling in Encore, Monroe Twp. in 2003. He bravely served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was owner and operator of New York Tube & Reel Company, Inc. in Kearny until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Lombardo was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral Council #3272 in Metuchen where he was also a parishioner. Mr. Lombardo enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Lombardo was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Lombardo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sabrina "Betty" (Sigismondi) Lombardo of Encore, Monroe Twp., his son Gary T. Lombardo and his wife Nedra of Spring Hill, NC and his grand-daughter Sabrina Rae Lombardo. He is also survived by many other extended family members and many nieces and nephews who all loved his approach to life and his gentle spirit.
Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Friday May 9, 2014 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc., 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 9:15am on Saturday May 10, 2014 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:15am at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, 32 Elm Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840 followed by entombment in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
