Obituary of Elizabeth A. Hirsch
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth Karman Hirsch lived a very full life enriched with love, laughter, family and friends. She was born on June 10, 1927 in Wantagh, New York and she and her husband Al raised their family in Milltown, New Jersey. She was a wife, mother, aunt, and loving friend to many.
She retired from East Brunswick Township and moved to Pennsylvania to enjoy the many years ahead of her. She spent time cooking, sewing, sketching, making dolls, walking and traveling. Her travels included visiting family in West Virginia, Arizona, Colorado, Maine and Maryland as well as many vacations to the Caribbean, Alaska, New Jersey shore, Jekyll Island and Florida.
Elizabeth touched the lives of all she met through her humor, charm, compassion, friendliness and generosity. She was lovingly referred to as "Betts" or "Queen Elizabeth" which was revealed by her grace. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family which consisted of 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Her deep commitment to Christ was reflected by her selfless acts of kindness to all. Her loving family surrounded Elizabeth at home on April 27, 2014 when she peacefully entered the gates of heaven. Elizabeth is survived by her children Eileen Squitiro and husband Larry North of West Virginia, Marjorie Jones of New Jersey, Mary Hirsch and husband Keven Jones of Pennsylvania, Paul and wife Mary Anne Hirsch also of Pennsylvania, Lisa Hirsch and husband Ken Herron of Arizona as well as her "honorary daughter" Barbara Raczynski and husband Anthony of Helmetta, New Jersey. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Julius Alfred Hirsch, of 59 years.
Elizabeth chose to lead by example: "To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."
(Prayer of Saint Francis.)
